The Kachin state where sandwiched between China and India in northern Myanmar. The race called the Kachin who live in a deep mountain range and this ground covered in the jungle. It is one of state of Myanmar, but a state such as the partial independence. Kachin is having a fight to become independent from government of Myanmar since 1961. Their myth begins with space generation. After space generation, the existence produced the sun, nature, light and darkness and a huge pumpkin last. It was said that eight first human beings appeared from pumpkin and they became other founders of a race. It has been got learning through the grapevine as an epic, because Kachin had not had Kachin's own letter. If there was a disease, if there was a wish, a shaman prayed to spirits. Kachin lived in nature isolated by a human dwelling took in the existence of the spirits close. The propagator of the Christianity Baptist group did it for propagation in 1837. They gave them Western medical care and made a letter with the alphabet to the Kachin who did not have a letter and gave the Bible. In that way Christianity spread out on this ground. 90% or more of inhabitants became a Christian. Catholicism is 20% of those. Their Christianity faith became strong while they were living in the conflict most prolonged in Asia and living in severe nature. However, their animism faith was not disappeared, and the faith that was their root became one racial identity.
The their animism faith becomes the base of the their Christianity faith.
I had stayed in forest several nights with Kachin independence army. I saw the mountain range surrounded by fog from the mountaintop, and the starlight which did it glaringly pours at night. I felt some kind of cries and breathings echo in the forest where fog flies slightly and some kind of eyes. The Kachin lived in deep nature. Christianity might be received as the thing which formed a spirit whom they felt.
